This post is the revelatory teaching notes that Dr. Aikens taught from in the Bootcamp entitled “What’s in God’s Names? (Part Two) Posted by Rev. Jane Babich after attending the Bootcamp.
This is part two of the teaching of “What’s in God’s Names?” Click here, to read part one. This teaching is to remind us that is is what is in God’s names, that will prevail for us, always!
“What is thought to be in a name” has often inspired, encouraged, intimidated, and or in some manner proved influentially significant. In many life situations, the first thing we learn about someone when introductions are made can cause rapid judgments to be formed about the person, though we have little other pertinent information; besides their name!
In Part One we covered the first time the name of the Lord was revealed in Genesis 1:1-2 as Elohim signifying He is Almighty God and Spirit of God!
Genesis 1:1-2 Apostle-phrased!
In the beginning, God prepared, formed, fashioned, and created the heavens and the universes in them, as He did the earth. Afterward of a catastrophic crisis, the earth appeared to have become completely without form and void, as darkness covered the face of the deep. Then suddenly, despite darkness working it so, the Spirit of God as “Elohim”, revealed His presence. He was moving, hovering and brooding about how darkness did cover the face of His waters; thus, He said, “Let there be light”! And immediately, there was!
We continue with God’s Mighty Name of “Yahweh.”
God’s name as Yahweh, signifying Lord God and Jehovah is first revealed in Genesis 2:4-5 but appears 6518 more times written “YHWH” as God’s promised proper name, signifying Lord and Master.

These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
El Elyon – Most High God
God’s name as El Elyon signifying the “Most High God”. We first see Him revealed as such in Genesis 14:18-20, but it is rendered 51 more times so in scripture. Sometimes it is without El, so simply Elyon. signifying God’s characteristic as being far above everyone and everything and strategically positioned as sovereign majestic preeminent God.

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all
Adonai-Lord, Master, Owner
God’s name Adonai signifies Lord, Master, or Owner. We first see Him revealed as such in Genesis 15:2-4, but it appears 432 more times in scripture. The “Jews” in light of their religious tradition established to not pronounce or spell out the promised proper name of God; began calling Him Adonai instead of YHWH. His name signifies He is in complete charge of all His creation and people as Lord of lords for the earth is His and all dwelling in it.

And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir, but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
El Shaddai-Lord God Almighty
God’s name El Shaddai as Lord God Almighty; our all-powerful, all-sufficient sustainer. We first see Him revealed so in Genesis 17:1. It appears 47 more times in scripture; sometimes without El, so simply “Shaddai” also signifying the Lord’s name and His integrity is purely exceeding excellence in all the earth!

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
The revelatory and rather interesting point is, “Shaddai” is derived from the word for a woman’s breast; “shad” thus, also signifies God as also our “many breasted one”. He “puts a difference” as a spiritual absolute, that He’s our source, provider, supplier, and nourisher. He alone satisfies all our needs and many of our wants; more even than any mother would endure or sacrificially give to provide all possible, for their beloved child.
Consider, Shaddai, also signifies a seeming oxymoron that all prevailing overpowering that rains utter destruction, is God’s absolute prerogative of power alone. Thus, it is He alone that enables our triumphing to overcome every obstacle; including the opposition of any strongmen thinking to overtake, sift, and threatening to utterly diminish us.
El Olam-Our Everlasting God
God’s name “El Olam” which signifies Him our Everlasting God. We first see Him revealed as such in Genesis 21:33. It appears 438 more times and is again characteristic of God being forever, continuously, perpetually existing as everlasting, unending future through all eternity for all “His”.

And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba and called there on the name of the Lord, the everlasting God.
The revelatory is “El Olam” also declares God as existing above and beyond all time and space. We, therefore, are to take comfort in the fact that God always was, and always will be God. Nothing we’ll ever face can change that; for “El-Olam” also signifies He’s unchangeable; though walking in His likeness; demands yielding to “ordered change”.
Jehovah Jireh-Sees
and Provides
God’s name “Jehovah Jireh”, the Lord sees and provides! It’s declared only once, in Genesis 22:13-14, and according to rabbinical teaching is only supposed to be written “YHWH” as “Yahweh” meaning Lord and Master as the promised and proper name of God.

And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.
The backstory is when Isaac asked his father Abraham, where was the lamb to offer God as the required sacrifice; he answered out of pure faith; Isaac, “Jehovah Jireh”; the Lord will always provide! After God revealed His ram caught in the thicket, so waiting to be revealed as the “all that” He provides because He has already seen and knows; Abraham renamed the spot where they built their altar on Mt. Moriah, Jehovah Jireh.
So “What’s in His name” is awesomely revealed here as God quietly pre-arranges things behind the scenes; to be all in just the right place; exactly when we need it.
“What’s in His Names” as our “Jehovah Rapha”. It signifies He is the Lord Who heals us! Appearing only once in Exodus 15:26. Yet this spiritual absolute is seen at work all throughout the scriptures.

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.
The revelatory is “Rapha” signifies He heals us not only physically, but will do so emotionally, and mentally as well. Beloveds, “What’s in the Names of God” for us as “His”; causes us to be already made every whit whole, already delivered, so that nothing; even if we feel or see symptoms say otherwise; they can’t prevail to take us out.
Any accomplishing of our deceases remains strictly God’s territory. Yes, there’s stuff out there lurking to overtake us; some may even make us fall weary with sifting. But, just be not weary! Lay heavy darkness aside; take up your bed and trust Him! He alone makes us be completely healthful again, as a restoring unto wholeness found only in Him.
So, “What’s in His Name”? It is that as our Great Physician His healing is emotional, and psychological equally. And He does so for His nations, His church, His bride, as well as for every individual vessel unto honor He already knows as “His”; always!
Jehovah Nissi-My Banner
“What’s in His Names” as our “Jehovah Nissi” the Lord My Banner! This is again an instance where His name is rendered such but once in scripture, Exodus 17:15. As our “Nissi” which also signifies that battle standard lifted; God proclaims Himself both our banner and our steadfast hope of victory.

And Moses built an altar and called the name of it Jehovah Nissi.
The revelatory of what makes Him as “Jehovah Nissi” so steadfast, is His name, is not just full of our hope; but literally becomes our focus. Consider He is Who we’re to keep our eye on and faith in; as He leads us into battle as we will but, back up into Him; for the battles are never ours, but His!
El Qanna-Jealous God
“What’s in His Names” as our “El Qanna” signifying that God is a Jealous God! We first see it in Exodus 20:4-6 and it is repeated five more times in scripture. “El” is always related to God as “Elohim” and His name “El-Olam” declared He is unchangeable.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
But here we gain a little more intimately detailed look into the character of the Lord God. For we see He makes relationships with Him personal for those He already knows have a heart after His. But, that’s only “if” we don’t really know Him as Lord. For knowing Him as Paul advocates, we ought to be focused to press towards, as a revelatory high calling; changes everything.
Beloveds, our God as “El Qanna”, a jealous God; never pulls on, drives, or rests on us like a heavy hand. He never turns on thinking to mistreat or abuse as hard taskmasters obsessed with and trying to work us to go their way, as all worldly jealousies would, do. It especially will happen when our purpose is not known to those thinking to correct or keep us as theirs; for abuse is always inevitable in those situations; if not for But God! So, we all ought to thank God; this is not “what’s in God’s names that prevail against us”! Amen!
May the understanding of these Names of God and “What’s in those names” grow in you give you greater peace in all your turns and degrees of life. Selah!
