Lead Me to The Rock!

Lead Me to The Rock!

This post is the revelatory teaching notes that Dr. Aikens taught from in the Bootcamp entitled “Lead Me to The Rock!”. Posted by Rev. Jane Babich after attending the Bootcamp.

Psalm 61:1-2

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer; from the end of the earth,
I cry to you!  And when my heart is overwhelmed;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

 “My Heart Feels Overwhelmed”

The Heart is the center of our feelings, will, intellect and control center that feeds or nurtures anything operating unseen within us and affects our life’s course; both naturally and spiritually!

The Heart determines our resilience, strength of spirit, integrity, and ability to influence we exhibit in most purpose-driven situations.

The Heart’s ability to “feel” actually governs, steers and prevents our drifting aimlessly when ordered steps become hard to see.

The Heart determines if we have an ear to hear God and His Spirit and still remain sensitively submitted to do; despite what else is felt.

The Heart is also seen and especially known by God. He not only speaks to us through it, but He accosts it within us with His calls.

The Heart then when pliant, sensitive so perfect towards God; has integrity enabling us to turn to suddenly do valorous exploits despite when evil things of adversity overwhelm us to feel fearfully afraid!

Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed defines hearts made to feel so astonished, astounded, seared, amazed or hardened by evil things we allowed the access to touch us; we feel weakened.

Overwhelmed is as spiritual congestive heart failure; we feel heavy, crowded in and choked by doubt, fears or confusion.

The revelatory here is when our hearts are affected by these feelings God deems as evil; it’ll cause those He calls to be strong; to instead seem to be languishing. We can then become apt to drift aimlessly away spiritually; to faint in our spiritual weariness and “feel” thus act as if suddenly powerless and appear to others as if we have become totally lifeless.

But if “feelings” can make us act so overwhelmed that our example is seen as loveless, faithless, distrustful, double-minded or unstable; then we’re as unprofitable servants to God; even if we minister!

Consider the rest of
King David’s solution: Psalm 61:2

When my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
“Lead me to the Rock”

Lead to Rock

Lead to Rock cries to be led; as are the blind that cannot see their way to reach this promised refuge of might and strength.

See the revelatory of the blind being lifted up or led; guided still in ordered steps; aided in a press to journey through unto safe harbor.

Hear the revelatory of lead me to the Rock; it is a crying out for the Lord to not only lead us to know Him as our refuge we can dwell in, but to catch us up; even transport us to the same 3rd heaven as Paul.

Through Paul we learn overwhelmed hearts that cry out to be led to that Rock higher than; are privileged to see, hear and feel all that are unspeakable things God’s Word says.

God’s Word; His every command totally disproves or negates every evil thing the enemy thinks to wear us out about through a feeling!

2 Corinthians 12:2-10 expresses this phenomenon where we see even Paul cry out feeling overwhelmed in his heart until learning grace is sufficient to deliver us from our heart’s condition; not to judge it.

Higher Than I”

Grace keeps that Rock as our refuge of strength; ever available to all who in faith feel to cry; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Higher than I in our Psalm 61:2 signifies where we are lifted to actively remain our high and exalted place. See the Lord as a continual encouraging lifter of our head; while He leads us safely unto that rest our overwhelmed hearts long for.

Know the revelatory of higher than I is that being led to the Rock higher than also entails behaving wisely; a walking there circumspectly.

Feel this as but our mark for the prize of High Calling found only by feeling we know Him! Philippians 3:7-14

Philippians 3:7-14

But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.  Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Pursue, press into and seek to occupy it; as if in finding it we own it; for this higher than prize has an elusive mark that far too many misses!

Cry to be led to it, and spiritually expect to actually feel it. But know to do so; we must obey God’s Word and please Him to achieve that.

Only progressively seeking to know the power of God’s resurrection can enable us to actually feel His working effectually within us, and know Him as the glory and lifter of overwhelmed hearts and heads.

As we Selah, remember this when you
as David did cry out to the Lord.

See yourself being lifted to stand on that Rock higher than us all! Can you see, hear; and feel the intimate revelation at that moment? See it as a proven, strong, safe rest and landing place for us in God. Amen and Amen!
