Legacy Tip: What is Legacy?

Legacy has become almost a buzzword today. Over time the word legacy has had times and seasons of high and low use. If you look at the graph, you will see that since 1950 the use started to increase and then around 1970 it greatly increased. The use started to level off in 2019. The use of the word legacy became popular as the business of life, and the digital age grew. That is not blaming; it is just the confirmation that when we feel stress, we begin to ask, "what is it for ?". Knowing that we are crafting a legacy of fruit that remains helps us prioritize and maximize our individual legacies. We all want to know that what we are investing in will bear fruit and be something that lasts and stands after completing our course in…

Jane’s Journey “Grappling”

Jane's Journey "Grappling" Jane's Journey is my transition into "hereafter" or my "from now on" of retirement. I am writing here to inspire, stir, awaken, and encourage you to engage with what is in your heart to enjoy and with the simplicity of crafting your hereafter daily, as it becometh you. Retirement is when we realize and engage the times, ideas, and realms of possibility that our heart looked for and your mind imaged but never tasted of, until now. In the first segment of Jane's Journey, It was about reviewing the preparation done to be ready to enter retirement. After three months, I did the second segment on reflecting and facing the changes, challenges, and how all my preplanned did not work as I had planned. And now after six months of retirement, I am grappling! Grappling is to…

Jane’s Journey “Reflection”

Jane's Journey "Reflection" Jane's Journey is about my transition into an adventure within my "hereafter" or my "from now on" of this big, new and unknown space and a place called retirement. I am sharing my experiences to give wisdom and help when it is your time and also hear from you if you have already found your place and space in your hereafter of retirement. Retirement - The realizing and engaging of times, ideas and realms of possibility that your heart looks for and your mind images but never tasted of, until now on. As I entered the second quarter of "Hereafter", I am reflecting on the journey of my first three months. REFLECTION Reflection comes from the root word "reflex" or "to bend back". A time to pause and bend or look back is so healthy for our…

World View People

People see people differently. Everyone has a natural way they view people and life; it makes us who we are and how we interact with people, circumstances and opportunities. Part of crafting our legacy is recognizing it when we meet someone with a world view. I call this a divine encounter because if we realize it or not, we meet people with a world view to give us an opportunity to expand our influence or impact of the world we live in. Do you know what I mean? They are the ones that allow us to see the world as we would not have seen it, without the encounter. The encounter can face to face, at a conference, in a book or listening to a podcast. The medium of the encounter does not matter, because no matter the way we…

Calm the Roaring Lion Gently

Our legacy is what others have seen, benefited from or heard that remains with them. Being someone that can bring peace in a storm is a wonderful part of anyone's legacy. My greatest experiences in bringing that calm came by making mistakes and watching others that brought me peace in my storms. If you are a calming element of grace, thank you! If you are in the learning curve of cultivating this ability, read on and take what can add to your legacy of being a calming agent of peace and grace. You walk into the room welcomed by the sound of a loved one deeply crying. For a moment you stand still surrounded by questions you want to ask and comfort you need to give. At the same time, your mind reverts back to times in the past that…

Strangers of Legacy

As a part of crafting our legacy, we need to share our stories with others. These stories can be events that happen over time, or like this one, a story of a short God-ordained few minutes in the midst of a routine day. For me, strangers are a big part of my legacy. As I have been reviewing my journals and working on writing more, it is so clear that strangers have played a larger part in my life and legacy than I had given them credit. A stranger is defined as a person whom one does not know or with whom one is not familiar. The Latin root word for stranger is extraneous which means irrelevant or unrelated to the subject, person or situation. Most strangers are exactly as defined, but then there are those that started out strangers…

She looked for, didn’t find, therefore, created.

"A Well Crafted Legacy is seeing what is missing that can change the world and then creating it!" Tara Button wrote a message on the magic of curating with thought and intention in a publication called Money, Savings, and Debt from Simplify Magazine. As a recovering impulse shopper, she made a life-changing decision after receiving a cooking pot as a gift. In her article, she says it this way. "I think I always expected that when I “grew up” I would just naturally become less impulsive with money. Like there might be a magical night class that happens in our sleep when we’re on the cusp of having to “really be an adult.” I never got access to those night classes, but something magical did happen to me when I was 30 that changed my spending habits forever." Then she…

Retirement Perspective “Beauty”

I recently accepted a retirement offer from the company I have worked for about 20 years. I am telling you, I am ready, I think! (if you want to read the why I launched this blog, read the introduction here) I am ready to do all those things I said I would do when I retire (I have a list). I am ready to not have to be "available" to anyone eight hours a day. I am ready to stay up late and not be concerned about the morning alarm clock. I am ready to travel when I want without first checking if I have PTO remaining. With all the gratitude I have with having been offered and accepted this retirement package, I am also full of questions. Why do I have questions, I have prayed for this and know…

A Well Crafted Legacy “New Season”

It has begun, my first retirement! Yes, the first retirement because I am not done working, just now I am working for me. Yeah! This new journey requires I embrace a different perspective because it is all about a new point of view. Perspective has a root meaning of "look through" and in this season I will be looking through everything I do, have, need and desire to create A Well Crafted Legacy for me and those I love and influence with my life. This journey is focusing on Wellness and Simplicity, therefore I will be "looking through" and making the necessary adjustments to move me daily toward the fullness of a legacy of wellness and simplicity. I colored this picture with beautiful new blooms on the wellness side and clean spaces and colors of simplicity on the other side…

Jane’s Journey “Hereafter”

Jane's Journey Hereafter Jane's Journey is about my transition into an adventure within my "hereafter" or my "from now on" of this big, new and unknown space and a place called retirement. I am sharing my experiences to give wisdom and help when it is your time and also hear from you if you have already found your place and space in your hereafter of retirement. Retirement - The realizing and engaging of times, ideas and realms of possibility that your heart looks for and your mind images but never tasted of, until now on. I have worked in corporate America since 1972. Yikes I know, that is a long time, and it has gone way too fast. My career has been an investment in three companies and over thirteen titles. I have been blessed by many great co-workers and…
